Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho faces a seven-match ban for his criticism of Uefa in the aftermath of the 2-0 home loss against Barcelona in last week's Champions League semi-final, Marca reports.

The Portuguese tactician remarked that it is impossible to beat Barca because Uefa assists the Catalans' progression in the tournament, and his comments look set to be met with strict punishment from European football's governing body.

Uefa will confirm Mourinho's fate later on Friday, but the Spanish newspaper claims that the decision has been taken to suspend the former Inter and Chelsea boss for a period of seven games.

It is thought that the sanction will be used as an deterrent to others, but the report also claims that Madrid and Mourinho are ready to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if Uefa indeed impose a lengthy ban.

Madrid eventually exited the Champions League at the hands of their Spanish rivals, 3-1 on aggregate.
